A rack (or shelving) supported mezzanine is just that – a storage deck placed on top of an array of rack or shelving, or combination thereof. It is utilized in applications where items are stored below the deck on shelves, while the mezzanine level provides open space for bulk storage or workspace. A standard mezzanine is a structure that has heavy duty steel support columns along the perimeter of the platform, as well as support columns underneath the deck. These columns are tied together with steel joists and beams, whether cold rolled or structural, and are bolted together with high strength steel bolts to align the framing for uniform installation. These integrated components lock the connection into a solid unit for maximum strength. A deck is then attached to the top of the framing system, creating a surface for the storage platform.
The mezzanines are designed with Column Based Mezzanines and Frame Based Mezzanines depending on the applications. The floorings can be with High strength materials.
